Artificial Intelligence and the Future of IS Publishing

Panellists

Mike Seymour; Andrew Burton-Jones; Daniel Schlagwein; Michael Davern (with Mary Tate; Allen Lee; Suprateek Sarker; and Blair Wang)

Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming embedded in the academic publishing process. While discussions of AI in higher education often focus on concerns of misconduct or “cheating,” far less attention has been given to how these technologies may fundamentally change the nature, volume, and process of Information Systems publishing itself.

This panel will bring together senior editors and former editors from leading IS journals to engage in a respectful and forward-looking discussion about how AI may influence scholarly publishing. The objective is not to debate AI ethics in general, but to consider concrete implications for authors, reviewers, and editors as AI tools become part of mainstream academic practice.

Date & Duration: 3rd December, 1.5 Hours
Time & Location: 2:30pm – 4:00pm, Workshop/Panel Space
