Description

Many calls have been made for a national approach to the adoption and use of GenAI within the Australian context with several peak bodies like TEQSA, ARC, NH&MRC, DISR, and the ACS working on assessing the impact of and policy issues to be addressed because of GenAI developments.

This panel focusses on key issues that impact and future opportunities that may shape tertiary sector to guide the adoption and use of generative AI tools in research, teaching and learning. It explores the evolving landscape of Generative AI in higher education, drawing on interim findings from an ACPHIS-sponsored national project – with representation from 13 Universities, 20 IS academics are actively driving this initiative (ECRs, MCRs, Senior Professoriate), examining policy and guidance, risks and opportunities with GenAI in higher education, across 44 universities in Australia and New Zealand including systematic literature reviews. It will critically examine institutional readiness, policy gaps, and strategic opportunities for IS academics, universities, and policymakers.
