First launched in 2003, the ACPHIS PhD Medal is awarded annually to the best PhD thesis in Information Systems completed at an Australian university. Recognizing excellence in doctoral IS research, many medal winners went on to pursue academic careers. Each submission is reviewed by the ACPHIS Doctoral Thesis Award Selection Committee, which includes two leading Australian Information Systems researchers and the ACPHIS Doctoral Award Medal Convenor.
To be selected, a thesis must address a significant issue in the Information Systems field and demonstrate strong potential for publication in a high-quality academic journal. The winner receives the ACPHIS Medal and /a $2,000 cash prize, presented by the ACPHIS Executive at the annual Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS).
