The Women in IS Networking Event is a signature annual gathering at the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS), open to all genders and is designed to foster meaningful engagement, collegiality, and inclusive leadership in the IS community.

This year at ACIS we also explicitly acknowledge Diversity in IT in all of its forms, in a spirit of inclusion and solidarity. We recognise that diversity and difference must be valued in universities and workplaces as well as our societies.

This event brings together a vibrant cross-section of scholars, educators, PhD students, and industry professionals in the IS discipline to network, share stories and build meaningful, lasting connections.

Why Attend?

Whether you’re just beginning your academic journey or are a seasoned IS professional, this is a welcoming space to:

  • Connect with peers and mentors across institutions and regions
  • Exchange insights on navigating careers in IS and IT
  • Celebrate diverse forms of leadership and scholarship
  • Explore collaborations across research, teaching, and professional practice

What to Expect

Expect an energising mix of informal networking, storytelling, and table conversations centred on equity, diversity, and inclusion in our field. This year introduces a new “Table Talks” initiative, where attendees can propose and host open, informal dialogues on themes that matter – from Indigenous research methodologies and underrepresented perspectives to Special Issue proposals and community-driven EDI initiatives.

Why It Matters

This initiative goes beyond typical networking. It creates a space for conversations that often remain on the margins of mainstream academic programming. It’s an opportunity to bring your ideas, passions, and curiosity to the table – and to engage in dialogue that reflects the true diversity of our community.

What to Bring

Bring your whole self and a genuine spirit of community. Support, while being supported. Learn about others, while reflecting on your own journey.

Our Vision

We believe equity and diversity are foundational to innovation in IS/IT research, education, and practice. This event is part of ACIS’s ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive, reflective, and connected discipline. Join us at ACIS 2025 and be part of a conversation that counts.

Don’t miss it – please make a note of the date and time in your calendar. Full event details coming soon in the ACIS 2025 program!

We look forward to welcoming you,

Christine, Olivera, Nelly and Lubna
