The Leoni Warne Prize is a $1500 award that honours Leoni Warne’s contribution to promoting women’s role in IT in Australia, recognising the best article published in the preceding calendar year addressing issues relating to women in IT. The prize commemorates Leoni Warne, who died in 2010 after a distinguished career researching the human and social aspects of information systems while maintaining lifelong activism around women in IT issues.
Co-sponsored by AAIS, the Australian Computer Society (ACS), and ACPHIS, the prize is open to Australian-based academics or practitioners working in any discipline, with eligibility for articles published in any outlet including books, journals, conferences, or other media. Judging is based on the article’s significance to academics and practitioners, exceptional contribution to the field, potential impact on women’s role in IT industries, and quality of writing and presentation, with winners announced at the December ACIS conference dinner.
