Public-transport in south-eastern Queensland
The public transport system is referred to as Translink and includes trains, buses, ferries and tram services in greater Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast regions. A video which describes Brisbane’s complete transit system is provided here.
You can use the trip planner at https://translink.com.au/ to determine train travel options to and from your accommodation and the Moreton Bay campus. Alternatively, you can download the Translink App.
Free Wi-Fi is available on trains.
Travel Time
If you are staying in Brisbane CBD, then getting to and from the UniSC Moreton Bay campus conference venue is easy and inexpensive. However please note, it is a 40-minute train trip to and from Brisbane Central to Petrie Station. The UniSC Moreton Bay Campus is conveniently located across the road from Petrie Station.
Trains are frequent during peak hours but allow enough time to reach the venue. Usually, the Conference and its Events start at 9:00am, with the exception being the Doctoral Consortium on Day 1 and Day 2 of ACIS that will start at 9:30am.
Costs and Payment Options
Public transport fares are a 50 cent flat rate across all Translink services, regardless of how far you travel on the network or how you choose to pay. You can simply tap on and off using your Credit or Debit card.
Alternatively, if you are intending to stay and travel around Queensland, then you might consider using the go card, an electronic ticket for travelling in Southeast Queensland. It can be used on all Translink bus, train (including Airtrain), ferry and tram services in greater Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast regions.
