Individual Membership
Individual membership in AAIS requires first joining the Association for Information Systems (AIS), which offers four membership classes: Academic, Student, Retired, and Professional. AIS membership rates are based on the UN Human Development Index classification of the member’s country, with benefits including access to the AIS eLibrary. When joining AIS, members must select the Australasian Chapter (AAIS) as their chapter affiliation. Alternatively, academics employed by current AAIS Departmental Sponsors are automatically considered AAIS members without individual AIS membership.

Departmental Membership
AAIS offers departmental membership as a crucial funding mechanism, relying on generous departmental support from universities across the Australasian region rather than AIS funding. The current AU$400 annual fee (dependent on HDI classification) provides comprehensive benefits for all department academics and research students, including ACIS conference support and AJIS journal support. This sponsorship supports infrastructure and services for the Australasian IS Community while providing departments with a voice in community governance. Departmental membership efficiently supports entire IS academic communities while contributing to regional discipline infrastructure.
