Track Description

As Chairs of the General Track for ACIS 2025, we warmly invite you to submit your high-quality Information Systems (IS) research and research-in-progress papers. We are particularly keen to receive submissions aligned with the overall conference theme: “The State of the Information Systems Discipline: Challenges and Opportunities.” We encourage you to share scholarly contributions exploring the vital intersections of information systems and sustainability, aiming for impactful insights that can guide us towards a more balanced future. This could include studies on the applications of digital technologies in promoting environmental or social sustainability, research into sustainable digital or work practices, analyses of IS-enabled organizational changes needed for sustainability transformations, or critical perspectives on IS and sustainability challenges.

Beyond the conference theme, we also explicitly welcome excellent IS research that may not neatly fit within the scope of the other specialized ACIS tracks. If your work is well-suited to the broader IS discipline, we encourage you to submit it here. Our goal is to attract original and unique papers covering the diverse landscape of IS. Regardless of your specific topic, we strongly value methodological and philosophical diversity. We explicitly grant you freedom in your epistemological, ontological, and methodological approaches- please bring your unique perspectives. We welcome both full research papers and research-in-progress (RIP) papers. For RIP submissions, we expect a clear outline of the research idea, work completed so far, planned next steps, and potential contribution. All submissions will be assessed based on their originality, methodological rigour, potential significance (to theory, practice, or society), and clarity of presentation.

To maintain a fair and transparent review process, we also provide the General Track as an opportunity for Chairs of other ACIS tracks (and their students) to submit papers when the topic falls within the scope of the track they are chairing. This helps avoid potential conflicts of interest in the review process.
